Personality[]

Rui Jangal is a wise strategist who is fiercely loyal to Prince Heinel, having provided many sinister strategies for him to fight against the Voltes V. At the same time, he and Ri Katherine also try to prevent Emperor Zu Zambajil's plan to kill the prince. He genuinely respects the Voltes team and would even make a great ally for them had it not been because they're on the opposing sides. When being surrounded by the Voltes team, he commits suicide and reveals the truth about Professor Kentaro Goh to them and pledges loyalty to Heinel, dying a honorable death.

Biography[]

At the start of the series, Emperor Zu Zambajil sends his nephew, Prince Heinel, to lead an invasion against Earth with legions of fleets. In truth, he wants to send Heinel away to remove a perceived threat for his rule. Aiding Heinel are Rui Jangal, Ri Katherine and Zuhl. To ensure Heinel's death, Zu Zambajil sends Duke Zaki and Zuhl to pretend aiding Heinel, but in truth to kill him if necessary. During the invasion, Rui Jangal has helped Heinel to scheme against the Voltes V, but they fail every time.

Throughout the war, Jangal and Katherine know of Emperor Zu Zambajil's plan to have Heinel killed, so they try to prevent it at all cost. When Jangal and Katherine expose another plot to betray Heinel, Zuhl is executed.

When the Voltes team is trying to find the Goh brothers' father, Professor Kentaro Goh, on Heinel's ship, they confront Jangal. Being surrounded, Jangal takes his sword and stabs himself, committing suicide, as a Boazanian general would rather die honorably than live as a coward. Before his death, he reveals to Kenichi Goh that Goh is imprisoned on Boazania and pledges his loyalty to Heinel. His death devastates Heinel and Katherine.
