Tako is a robot octopus created by Hiyoshi Goh.
Personality[]
Tako is attached the the Voltes team, especially Hiyoshi, and wishes to prove themselves as an ally. However, they can be blind to the consequences of their actions and unintentionally come off as a nuisance. Regardless, Tako cares deeply for the team and will always do whatever they can to keep them safe.
History[]
Tako debuted in episode 7, when Hiyoshi invented them to be the sixth member of the Voltes team. He showed off his invention to Kenichi, who chided him for playing around while the earth was in danger.
When the Boazanians sent a beats fighter to earth, Tako insisted that Hiyoshi take them along with the Voltes team, but when Hiyoshi reminded them of Kenichi's warning, Tako started crying. Tako then suggested hiding in Hiyoshi's clothing, which Hiyoshi agreed to.
While the team were fighting the beast fighters headed by Katherine, Hiyoshi's Volt Machine became damaged, thus making the team unable to form Voltes V. An enraged Kenichi blamed Tako for distracting Hiyoshi, and threatened to shoot them. When Hiyoshi begged him not to shoot it Kenichi gave him his gun and told him to do it instead. However, Hiyoshi then got the idea to disassemble Tako to fix his Volt machine, promising to Tako that he would reassemble him.
In the end of the episode, the Voltes team is seen laughing and playing with Tako together.

- Tako's name comes from the nickname director Tadao Nagahama was often called when he was a child.[1]
- Tako's name was changed to Octo-1 in the English dub of Voltes V.
- In the live-action remake known as Voltes V: Legacy, Tako's voice was male instead of female and was voiced by veteran actor, singer and comedian, Michael V. Michael V is a long-time avid fan of the original anime.
